Top three sectors for applications right now

Our matching technology makes sure recruiters receive applications from the very best people for their roles. While recruitment in some sectors has eased back until at least April 5th hiring continues unabated in other areas.

We love sharing our insights with you, so we took a deep dive into our latest data* to look at hiring trends. What we found is that the impact of the pandemic is plain to see in the industries experiencing an increase in applications.

Here are our top three sectors for applications right now.

Healthcare/Medical

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that Covid-19 has driven a dramatic rise in jobs in the Healthcare sector with roles increasing by 133% since this time last year. Hospitals and Care Homes have been working with Jobs.ie to hire for a range of roles including nurses and healthcare assistants. As these jobs increased then the number of jobseekers coming to the platform for these roles also climbed and applications for jobs in this sector jumped by 177%.

Warehouse/Logistics

The pandemic related surge in online shopping and takeaway food deliveries pushed logistics and warehousing to the forefront of recruitment. Companies such as UPS, Fastway Couriers and Lidl are all currently posting their vacancies on our platform. An increase in openings in this sector brought fresh interest from jobseekers and as a result, applications increased 18% compared to the same time last year.

Call Centre / Customer Service

There is no doubt that the value of Customer Care and Customer Success has been elevated by the pandemic with businesses sharply focused on retaining current customers and attracting new business. Global firms as PayPal, Ancestry, eBay, and Concentrix all partner with Jobs.ie to recruit customer success professionals at all levels. While the number of applications for jobs in this sector has remained steady at 2%, we’ve seen the number of applications per job increase. It is possible to speculate that this increase in numbers could be as a result of people with excellent customer care skills in the most severely impacted Covid-19 sectors seeking new opportunities.
