Getting back to it

Posted 3 years ago

As the world reopens the number of jobs continues to grow. So, if you are looking around and trying to decide what job to go for and whether the time is right to apply, then here are just a few things you can look forward to once you are back in the world of work (and they aren’t all to do with the pay cheque!).

Confidence

Do you remember the great satisfaction you got from your first job? It could have been washing your dad’s car, or being given the responsibility to go to the shop on your own. All those small tasks you’re given as a child help to instill confidence in you as you grow, and the exact same theory applies to being an adult. Being given tasks that you can learn from, or help lead with, give you life skills that will develop your confidence both in and out of work.

Mental Health

One of the many great benefits of having a job is the opportunity it gives you to meet and interact with people. There are often days, especially during lockdown, that if you have nowhere or no job to go to, you might not get to meet with people throughout the day. All your friends are busy at work or are spending time with their kids. The everyday interactions with people in a similar field does wonders for your mental health and gives you a sense of community outside of your normal friend circle.

Independence

Having your own source of income that you have earned gives you an opportunity to branch out and become more independent. You are now relying on you and yourself to gain income in order to meet your needs. You don’t need anyone else (except maybe your employer) and your money is yours and yours to spend however you want.

Routine

Ah routine, that’s a word we’ve become very unfamiliar with this past year. We missed the structure of a work schedule, giving us a purpose to hop out of bed and get dressed in something other than tracksuit bottoms. The word routine doesn’t sound exciting, but a good routine really leads to more fun. Your day is already mapped out, the result is money in your pocket, and it gives you room to plan something to look forward to!

Do you know that recruiters who advertise their jobs on Jobs.ie can invite you to apply for their vacancies?

To make this happen just create your profile in our TalentBank, make it searchable and our matching technology does the rest.

Employers with jobs that are a good match for your skills and experience will be able to find you. They can send you a TalentMail inviting you to apply for their job or even connect with you directly.

It’s a great stress-free way to job hunt.
