Comfort keepers to increase live-in carers roles in response to Covid-19

Posted 4 years ago

At Comfort Keepers, we provide that vital support through our 1200 carers nationwide. We work in the community and within the HSE, to offer respite to family carers through our services by taking on their duties and sharing the workload on a part-time or full-time basis.

The current crisis has cast a light on the indispensability of Homecare services in Ireland. Comfort Keepers has stepped up to the plate and embraced our frontline role of protecting the most vulnerable in society from the challenges of Covid-19.

We have expanded our services to provide Live-In care for those cocooning in this time and have dedicated ourselves to allowing our clients to live independently outside of hospital walls.

Our frontline workers play a major role in this battle and it is clear to see that they are heroes in the community.

Training

Homecare is a highly important and rewarding vocation that is suited to people with a caring nature and a sense of empathy and understanding.

As well as financial reward, our Health Care Assistants (HCAs) get the reward of seeing every day how their work is having a direct, positive impact on the lives of those in the community.

To ensure all HCAs are fully prepared for their role, our Learning & Development department provides the QQI certified modules necessary to become a HCA completely free of charge as well as a comprehensive induction training.

Healthcare Assistant Testimonials

No one is better placed to talk about why working as a home carer is such a rewarding job than a home carer themselves. We asked our Comfort Keepers’ carers why they love being a carer and here’s what they had to say.

“I love working in a job where I am appreciated so much. My clients notice what I’ve done for them and it makes them happy too.”

“I love making a difference to other people’s lives. I know what I do helps them to stay living independently in their own homes and my clients love to see me walking in the door.”

“Caring for other people makes me feel valued.”

“I have wonderful relationships with my clients. While I am doing their ironing or washing the floor, we’re laughing and chatting and having banter. They enjoy telling me their stories, sometimes from years ago and I get pleasure from listening to them.”

“I get great job satisfaction from my job and I love hearing good feedback from my reviewer.”

“I enjoy the challenges, I like the responsibility of looking out for my clients and taking note if anything seems amiss.”

“I love seeing my clients thrive by staying in their own homes”
