In-Centre Courses

Office Equipment Maintenance (BL99R)

Starting on 22nd May, this course equips learners with skills and related knowledge in electronic servicing and the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of business equipment and networks. Modules include career planning and job seeking skills, customer care & in company training. The course will run for 26 weeks.

Pharmacy Sales (BLS95)

Starting on 19th June, this course is suitable for those who may wish to work in a retail environment particularly in the Pharmacy retail sector. Modules include retail sales techniques, grooming & skincare, customer service, IT skills, product knowledge – over the counter, stock control, career planning and job seeking skills. Successful participants will gain Retail Skills – Level 4 certification. The course will run for 34 weeks.

EDL (BLK79C)

Starts on June 26th. ECDL provides successful participants with an internationally recognised qualification in Information Technology (IT) covering modules including word processing, spreadsheets, Databases & presentations.

The world’s largest computer skills certification programme with more than 6 million candidates in 146 countries, ECDL Provides a platform from which successful learners can move on to higher level IT education or seek employment.

Flexibility around the skill level of learners – the tutor will work at different paces and more intensely with some so this ECDL course may suit people who would not normally be ready for ECDL, for example, they will take people who have completed a basic computers course. This course runs for 16 weeks.

Basic Computers (BL98Z)

Starting in July, this course is suitable for beginners who would like to learn computer basics to assist with job searching, using the internet, using email etc.

Ideal for people who have not used computers or IT technology previously and would like to gain knowledge of computer basics. Course duration is 12 weeks.

Hotel Reception & Guest Services (BL07877)

Starting in July, this course aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and ability required to find work as front line reception staff within the hospitality industry.

Learners will cover modules including how to handle guest reservations and cancellations, manage payments, answer guest queries, produce documents, safeguard guest information, maintain the reception area and deal with telephone calls. Upon completion, successful learners will receive a Diploma in Reception Services City and Guilds 8067-02 and a Certificate in Microsoft Office User Specialist in Word and Excel. Course duration is 35 weeks.

Heavy Goods Vehicle Driving (HGV) Artic (BL038)

Starting in July, this articulated truck driving course covers modules including driver CPC, HGV driving, career planning & job seeking skills. Applicants must have a good standard of written & spoken English and must also have full C license and EC learner permit. The course will run for 7 weeks.

Office Administration (BLS06)

Through a combination of classroom learning and practical work placement, participants will learn essential office skills such as computer applications, customer service, document production, filing systems and use of office equipment.

Successful learners will be awarded a QQI Level 5 Major award – Certificate in Office Administration. Advice on career planning and job seeking skills included. Successful learners will be equipped to work in a variety of office settings. Course duration is 49 weeks.

Multimedia Training Facility (BL923)

Multi Media Training provides part-time training programmes for individuals that consist of self-paced, flexible training methods using the latest Multi Media Technology and Training Packages. The aim of this training programme is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge, know-how and competence in the programme of their choice.

Programmes covered include Dreamweaver CS5, Photoshop CS5, Flash CS5, Microsoft Office Specialist Modules – Access, Excel & Word (maximum of 2 modules, ECDL (any three of the seven modules) – Adobe, Microsoft & ECDL certification will be offered where applicable. All of the above may be completed on a singular modular basis. This course has a continuous intake.

Contracted Training Courses

Location: Baldoyle

Accounting Technician – Year 1 (DN214)

Starting in September and running for 39 weeks, learners will cover the skills needed to become an Accounting Technician. Career Planning and job seeking skills included and learners will spend four weeks on work placement. Ideal for those who’ve got experience working with figures or have already completed bookkeeping training. Successful learners will be awarded an ATI Record of Achievement and can progress their training to become an Accounting Technician or can apply for employment in accounts departments or accounting practices.

Kick Start Your Own Business (DN09276)

Starting in June 2017, this programme is designed to equip and support participants through the process of starting a business. It will help participants to build and grow their ideas, confidence, skills, knowledge, business and support network.

The programme will focus on developing and testing participant’s business ideas right through to the stage where the business is ready to register. Once started in business they will continue to receive support and guidance, helping to tackle the initial hurdles encountered by most start-ups.

What is needed? Junior Certificate or equivalent qualification. Some people will already have a business idea and others will not, that’s ok, the programme helps to develop and refine ideas until they are viable. What participants receive: All the support, advice and practical training needed to get started in business delivered by a team of experienced entrepreneurs. Successful participants can also achieve QQI Level 5 and 6 Certification. Programme duration is 42 weeks.

Employment Skills: DIY Retailing (DN09104)

Starting in June and running for 5 weeks, this course will provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to work in the area of DIY retailing.

On successful completion, participants will be awarded City & Guilds certificates in both Customer Service in the Retail Sector and Health & Safety Awareness in the Workplace. Manual Handling is included within the course along with a module on Career Guidance and Job Targeting.

Delivery Driver (DN955)

Ideal for those wishing to gain valuable driving experience to pass the driving test with a view to finding work as a Delivery Driver. Includes 25 hours in practical, behind the wheel, driving lessons. Modules also include Steps to Excellence for Personal Success, Career Planning & Job Seeking Skills.

Driving test is included as part of the course – successful learners will be awarded a Driving License (Class B). Applicants must have a B category learner permit valid for at least 6 months. This course runs for 9 weeks.

Location: Balbriggan

Employment Skills: DIY Retailing (DN09104)

Running in Balbriggan starting in May and running for 5 weeks, this course will provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to work in the area of DIY retailing.

On successful completion, participants will be awarded City & Guilds certificates in both Customer Service in the Retail Sector and Health & Safety Awareness in the Workplace. Manual Handling is included within the course along with a module on Career Guidance and Job Targeting.

Location: Dublin Airport

Aircraft Spray Painting (DN08354)

Starting June 2017 and running for 29 weeks, this programme has been developed to provide the aviation industry with skilled aircraft painting technicians. Training will take place in an aviation Hangar at Dublin Airport. Structured workplace learning (on-the-job training) will provide participants with the basic training and practical experience required to obtain a technical certificate in the Aviation sector.

What is needed? Junior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
Next Steps: Potential participants should be referred in the normal way and can register their interest to be called to attend a briefing session, followed by aptitude and dexterity tests prior to completing a competency-based interview (dates to be confirmed). Garda vetting, medical examination, colour vision and other criteria also apply. This course will run for 29 weeks.

Job opportunities: Participants who achieve the City & Guilds (1789-31) Diploma may potentially be offered employment at the end of the programme.

Delivery Driver (DN955)

Ideal for those wishing to gain valuable driving experience to pass the driving test with a view to finding work as a Delivery Driver.
