Zevas Communications is a leading provider of outsourced customer contact solutions.

Based in Cork the company is recruiting for a number of sales roles at the moment with a range of benefits and perks on offer including subsidised healthcare, free parking and free breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Shane Fitzgerald has been working with Zevas for the past eighteen months. He told us about his day to day work and why he’d encourage people to apply for a job with Zevas.

Tell us about your job.

My title is Team Leader. I run approximately 6 different teams/campaigns with about 25 people in total in them

How did you get your job?

In my case, it was a random career change at the age of 30. Up until then, I worked in the hospitality industry in one capacity or another, most recently as a chef.

At this point, I wanted a complete change from this industry and chose sales at which I discovered I have a talent and interest in. After 18 months working as a sales agent, I was promoted to Team Leader.

What qualifications do you have?

I am currently studying for my cert in Supervisor/Management and Coaching & QA.

Tell us about your typical day?

I calculate team targets and then share these with the teams.  I also formulate a plan for that day with the other Team Leader on my floor.

This can include doing weekly Performance reviews, coaching sessions (One to Ones), Group Training sessions, managing the floor and being a point of contact for each campaign.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The variety in my day to day job is great.  Dealing with different people and personalities gives me the freedom to use my initiative and creativity

What’s the most challenging?

Funnily enough, it is the flip side of the best thing! Dealing with different people and personalities can be a challenge.  I have to use my initiative,  think on my feet!

What additional skills are needed in your job?

Communication and leadership skills are good to have. You also need the ability to adapt to situations, some self-motivation and discipline help too.

What advice would you give somebody applying for a job with Zevas?

Ensure you are a self-motivated individual, target driven and able to deal with multiple personality types.  The company is happy to recognise hard work with internal recognition and promotion so it’s a great place to be if you are career minded.
