Job Title: Finance Director
Reporting To: CEO

Contract: Permanent
Location: Chapelizod, Dublin 20 with some travel to UK and Africa

Overview of Role:

Camara is an international charity that operates as a social enterprise using technology to deliver 21st century skills, and as such improves education in disadvantaged communities around the world.
This role is responsible for all financial management, reporting and analysis for Camara Education Ltd and our hub network and would be an ideal opportunity to further develop within a growing organisation.

It is an excellent opportunity to join the leadership team of a hugely successful Irish charity and social enterprise during a period of significant growth having achieved in excess of 40% average year-on-year revenue growth in recent years. Reporting to the CEO, and working closely with the leadership team, the role will involve managing all aspects of the finance function; budgeting, forecasting, reporting, analysis and driving the strategic growth and development of the organisation.

You will be based in Dublin, Ireland with some travel to the UK and Africa.
Attractive remuneration package will apply, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the the finance team in Camara Education who collectively:

    • Prepare the annual budget and forecasts

    • Prepare the annual statutory accounts and manage end of year external audit

    • Prepare of monthly management accounts, cashflow and forecast

    • Manage payables and receiveables

    • Oversee financial management of projects and prepare donor reports

  • Meet all legal, regulatory and tax requirements in Camara Education and between it and our hubs

  • Maintain, support and develop the financial systems within the Camara network

  • Lead and influence financial management across the Camara network including capacity development for finance across the network

  • Continually improve the finance processes,procedures and controls in line with the agreed Financial Manual in Camara Education and across the network

  • Contribute to the management team on organisation wide strategy and plans

  • Keep abreast of financial developments across the social enterprise and charity sectors by liaising with senior finance staff in other organisations

  • Additional tasks as agreed


Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Previous experience in a Financial Controller/Director position in the NGO sector for a minimum of 3-5 years
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen with a proven ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural team
  • Experience of SAGE accounts, TAS books, Excel and financial budgetary modelling systems
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Confident and energetic individual with experience working in a dynamic, diverse & demanding environment
  • Previous experience working in a multi-cultural team, ideally with Africa experience
