The SFZ is also the home of Shannon’s International Aviation Services Centre (IASC), a growing cluster of over 50 aerospace and aviation companies which already employs over 1600 staff.

The goal of Shannon Group is to develop IASC into a globally relevant aerospace industry cluster and to generate additional revenue for Shannon Commercial Properties, both by attracting new aviation/aerospace firms and by helping existing firms to develop their activities.

She/he will demonstrate to established and emerging aerospace companies that a Shannon location makes business sense, and will have specific responsibility for identifying and developing business opportunities worldwide within the range of activities covered by IASC.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Market intelligence: identification and prioritisation of key aerospace industry sectors and of the prospects within them.
  • Prospecting and relationship development: identify and engage with prospective IASC clients and partners and bring a targeted Shannon sales message to them.
  • Negotiation: along with Shannon Group colleagues and with external stakeholders, identify the prospective clients’ decision factors and build a Shannon offer that makes mutual commercial sense.
  • Execution of business development projects from business case evaluation through to negotiating and concluding legal agreements.
  • Tracking and pipeline management: monitor progress of prospective clients through the sales funnel and provide reports to management team as required.
  • Develop productive relationships with other relevant stakeholders (IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, ADS, etc.).
  • In conjunction with Shannon Group colleagues, provide input to brand building and marketing activity, including trade show/conference attendance.
  • Identify and promote IASC’s strengths and advantages, with the aid of Shannon Group colleagues as appropriate. Where necessary, identify possible enhancements to IASC’s offering, work to gain approval
  • for these, and oversee implementation as needed.

Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following characteristics:

  • Solid experience in B2B business development and commercial negotiation roles including a demonstrable record of sales and marketing achievement in a competitive international industry
  • Aviation/aerospace industry background required
  • Understanding of the aerospace value chain
  • Ideally a network of contacts within the aviation industry worldwide
  • Excellent communications, networking and relationship management skills
  • Strong project management and time management skills, able to act on own initiative and deliver quality results under pressure
  • High level of commercial acumen and strategic vision
  • Financially literate and experienced
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Experience of international and cross-cultural business negotiation
  • University graduate, potentially MBA
  • Open to regular international travel
