European Computer Driving License – ECDL (BLK79)
With late starters welcome until August 21st, ECDL provides successful participants with an internationally recognized qualification in Information Technology (IT) covering modules including word processing, spreadsheets, Databases & presentations.
The world’s largest computer skills certification programme with more than 6 million candidates in 146 countries, ECDL Provides a platform from which successful learners can move on to higher level IT education or seek employment.
Flexibility around the skill level of learners – the tutor will work at different paces and more intensely with some so this ECDL course may suit people who would not normally be ready for ECDL, for example, hey will take people who have completed a basic computers course. This course runs for 16 weeks.
Basic Computers (BL98Z)
Starting in August, this course is suitable for beginners who would like to learn computer basics to assist with job searching, using the internet, using email etc.
Ideal for people who have not used computers or IT technology previously and would like to gain knowledge of computer basics. Course duration is 12 weeks.
Hotel Reception & Guest Services (BL07877)
With late starters welcome until August 21st, this course aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and ability required to find work as front line reception staff within the hospitality industry.
Learners will cover modules including: how to handle guest reservations and cancellations, manage payments, answer guest queries, produce documents, safeguard guest information, maintain the reception area and deal with telephone calls.
Upon completion, successful learners will receive a Diploma in Reception Services City and Guilds 8067-02 and a Certificate in Microsoft Office User Specialist in Word and Excel. Course duration is 35 weeks.
Heavy Goods Vehicle Driving (HGV) Artic (BL038)
Starting in September, this articulated truck driving course covers modules including driver CPC, HGV driving, career planning & job seeking skills. Applicants must have a good standard of written & spoken English and must also have full C license and EC learner permit. Course will run for 7 weeks.
Software Tester (BL92R)
Starting in September, this course is ideal for those who wish to start a career in the IT sector or change to a career in the IT sector. Modules includes software development lifecycle, software testing, automated testing, SQL scripting, job seeking skills and four weeks work experience.
Applicants must have ECDL level or QQI level 4 or equivalent with a knowledge of spreadsheets. Course duration is 22 weeks.
Office Administration (BL 07062)
Starts on October 9th. Through a combination of classroom learning and practical work placement, participants will learn essential office skills such as computer applications, customer service, document production, filing systems and use of office equipment.
Successful learners will be awarded a QQI Level 5 Major award – Certificate in Office Administration. Advice on career planning and job seeking skills included.
Successful learners will be equipped to work in a variety of office settings. Course duration is 49 weeks.
Pharmacy Sales (BLS95)
This course is suitable for those who may wish to work in a retail environment particularly in the Pharmacy retail sector. Modules include retail sales techniques, grooming & skincare, customer service, IT skills, product knowledge – over the counter, stock control, career planning and job seeking skills. Successful participants will gain Retail Skills – Level 4 certification. Course will run for 34 weeks.
Multimedia Training Facility (BL923) (Part-Time Day Course)
With continuous in-take, Multi Media Training provides part-time (mornings or afternoons) individualized, flexible training programmes designed to enable learners to complete the programmes of their choice at a pace that works for them.
The aim of this training programme is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge, know-how and competence in the programme of their choice.
Programmes covered include: Dreamweaver CS5, Photoshop CS5, Flash CS5, Microsoft Office Specialist Modules – Access, Excel & Word (maximum of 2 modules, ECDL (any three of the seven modules) – Adobe, Microsoft & ECDL certification will be offered where applicable. All of the above may be completed on a singular modular basis. This course has continuous intake.
Contracted Training Courses
Employment Skills: Barista, HACCP & Retail Skills (DN09100)
Running in Swords starting in August, this programme will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and competence to operate effectively as a Barista with the ability to implement Food Safety Processes and Procedures.
HACCP & Manual Handling included as part of this short course. Certification is Barista Skills Level 4. Course duration is 5 weeks
Employment Skills: Retail (DN 09105)
Running in Swords starting in August – participants will learn the essential skills required to work in the retail sector. Learning through a combination of classroom learning and practical demonstrations. Successful participants will achieve City & Guilds certificates in Customer Service in the Retail Sector, Business of Retail, Contributing to Retail & Handling Customer Payments. Upon completion participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to find work within the retail sector. Course duration is 5 weeks.
Professional Office Administrator (DN 08731)
Starting in August in Swords, this course aims to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work providing administration services and support in a range of office administration contexts. Modules include Contact Centre Skills, Information and Administration, Text Production and Word Processing. Learners may choose for their last module either Medical Terminology, Legal Practice & Procedures or Bookkeeping (Manual & computerized). This last module takes place in a self-directed learning format. Course duration is 42 weeks.
Office Support Skills – Balbriggan (DN 0N2)
Running in Balbriggan starting in September, this programme equips the learner with the skills, knowledge and competence required to work in an office environment under supervision, offering efficient customer service and performing a wide range of administrative tasks. On successful completion leaners will be equipped to find work in any office environment or may progress to further education & training. Modules covered include Computer Applications, Customer Service, Information Technology skills & General Office skills. Certification – Office Skills – Level 4. Course duration is 15 weeks.
Accounting Technician – Year 1 (DN214)
Starting in September in Baldoyle and running for 39 weeks, learners will cover the skills needed to become an Accounting Technician. Career Planning and job seeking skills included and learners will spend four weeks on work placement. Ideal for those who’ve got experience working with figures or have already completed bookkeeping training. Successful learners will be awarded an ATI Record of Achievement and can progress their training to become an Accounting Technician or can apply for employment in accounts departments or accounting practices. Course duration is 39 weeks.
Accounting Technician – Year 2 (DN 21R)
Running in Blanchardstown and Swords starting in September, this course is designed to provide learners with the skills, knowledge and competence in financial accounting and budgeting; costing and credit control; payroll and tax returns for various types of businesses. Applicants should have successfully completed Accounting Technicians Ireland Year 1. Successful learners will be awarded an ATI Certificate in Accounting Technician and can gain employment in a wide variety of financial roles or self-employment. Further studies in the area of Accountancy is also an option. Course duration is 39 weeks.
Healthcare Support (DNS97)
This course will run in both Blanchardstown Dublin 15 and Balbriggan Co. Dublin starting in September. Participants will learn a range of skills from care support and patient handling to anatomy & physiology and human growth & development.
As well as direct classroom training, learners will gain practical experience on work placement as well as expert support in career planning and job seeking skills.
Successful learners will be awarded a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Health Care and after the course will be fully equipped to work as a Health Care worker either as a support carer in a person’s home or in a larger institutional setting. Course duration is 37 weeks.
Special Needs Assistant Short Course (DN 09114)
This course will take place in Blanchardstown in August and Baldoyle in October. It aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the practices and principles underpinning the role of a Special Needs Assistant to enable the learner to work effectively under direction in a special needs capacity. Certification – Early Childhood Care & Education – Level 5 component award. Applicants should ideally have a positive outlook and an interest in working in the education sector. Course duration is 7 weeks.
Introduction to Community Work (DN 09129)
Running in Blanchardstown starting in October. Through a combination of classroom learning and practical demonstrations learners will obtain the skills and competence to work at entry level in Community Work. Successful participants will achieve City & Guilds certificates in Effective Communication, Valuing Diversity & Equality, Rights, Responsibilities & Citizenship, Supporting Others & Understanding the Language & Culture of a Community. Course duration is 7 weeks.
Sports, Recreation & Exercise (DN K69)
Running in Blanchardstown starting in October, this programme will enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in a range of sports, recreation and exercise activities to work under supervision in a variety of sports related contexts and or to progress to further and higher education and training. Modules include Nutrition, Soccer Coaching, Sports Anatomy and Physiology, Work Practice and others. Certification – Recreation & Exercise – Level 5. Course duration is 38 weeks.

Baldoyle Training Centre is located right on the Mainline Train / DART Line—a two minute walk from Howth Junction Train / DART Station. We are also serviced by Dublin Bus routes 29A, 32 & the 17A which runs through Blanchardstown, Finglas, Glasnevin Avenue, Ballymun, Santry, Kilmore, Coolock and Kilbarrack before reaching the Training Centre. There is also a plentiful supply of free car parking spaces on-site.
