In 2010 Innopharma labs successfully delivered a Labour Market Activation Funded (LMAF) programme targeted to up-skill unemployed engineers and scientists coming from declining industries and successfully transition them to more stable and higher value roles within the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device industries. The programme was run in conjunction with ITT, Dublin and was delivered over a five month period. 100 students enrolled in the programme spread over three cohorts. To date over 80% of the first of the three cohorts have successfully returned to employment. The programme is a unique blend of academic knowledge of the Pharmaceutical & Medical Device industry, business skills, interviewing preparation and networking skills supported by individual mentoring and coaching. Feedback from both participants and industries supporting the programme has been exceptionally positive. Participants who have returned to employment have attributed their success to their participation on the Innopharma Labs LMAF Up-skilling programme.
Innopharma labs has won a second sponsorship under the new HEA Spingboard initiative to upskill the unemployed with engineering, science, construction and manufacturing backgrounds to fill these positions. The 5 month part-time course retrains participants to integrate into both operations and engineering environments within the biopharmaceutical industry. The programme is extremely practical involving face-to-face and online learning, combined with equipment touch time in a simulated manufacturing environment. Those completing the course will find themselves preened for positions in the product and process development; engineering, medical device, biopharma and process analytical areas for any of the international giants.
