This course is currently offered on demand so Navan Safety Training Centre is flexible in offering this course at a date and time that suits your schedule. Duration & Attendance
This is a 1/2 day Hi Ab course (depending on experience) with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 participants.
Pre Course Requirements
Navan Safety Training Centre has the appropriate truck available for training purposes.
Note : Participant(s) must provide a truck with Hi-Ab if requiring training on site.
Participants must have a minimum of 6 months practical experience under supervision of a competent person.
Who will benefit?
Any new or experienced operator wishing to gain certification or refresh/ renew previous certification to operate a Lorry Mounted Crane.
Participants will be able to:
- Drive the machine safely and maneuver it as required to a correct position.
- Carry out operation in a correct and appropriate manner.
What will be covered?
- Introduction to the machine.
- Legislation.
- Control Familiarization.
- Pre – Start checks, Safety practices & Basic maintenance Procedures.
- Hazard Identification and risk Assessment.
- Basic driving procedures & Practice use of Hydraulic controls.
- Know types of Configuration, Terminology and Design features of crane.
- Know types of Slings and lifting tackle.
- Know slinging methods and signal code.
- Identify and know the use and Limitations of Ancillary Equipment.
- Parking at end of shift Procedures.
- Site Traveling Procedures.
- Practice practical skills tests.
Additional Information
This Hi-Ab course is held at our training facility on the Kells Road, 5 minutes from the centre of town. Free car parking, tea & coffee is provided. A dedicated eating area including microwave, fridge & vending machine is available for course breaks.
We can also offer this Hi-Ab course at any preferred location nationwide.

Assessment & Certification
Participants who successfully complete this Hi-Ab course of instruction will be awarded a Navan Hire, Hardware & Training Centre Certificate of Competence & ID card. This certification is valid for 3 years.
