Who should participate in this course?

This course is designed to furnish learners with the knowledge required to set up their own childminding business.

 


General Aims
  • To make learners aware of the basic day-to-day care of children from a baby through to pre-teens
  • Understanding the types of play and how this aids the different areas of development
  • The importance of a safe and healthy environment
  • To provide the learners with the knowledge required from a business prospective, to establish their own childminding business
 


Entry Requirements

No specific entry requirements. Minimum age is 17 years.

Learners must also be capable of undertaking assessment work to Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate standard.

International learners undertaking this course should have confidence in their language, reading, writing and comprehension skills and have at least a 5 IELTS score or equivalent.

Work Experience

It is recommended that learners on this course complete a minimum of 20 hours work experience as a childminder during the course

 

Assessment Method
Two assignments and a personal reflective diary
 

Further Studies
FETAC Level 5 modules in childcare.

Establish own child minding business based in the home
