About the Course
This course, which is divided into 5 modules, aims to provide a lucid introduction to Psychology. The programme is designed primarily for those who wish to gain knowledge in, and an appreciation of psychology.
Assessment:
Students must complete a written assignment and a 3-hour written examination for each module of this course.
Programme Outline
- Introduction to Psychology
The concepts and terms used, as well as the nature and scope of psychology and some of the major issues in this field.
- History and Schools of Psychology
The philosophical background to psychology, the origins and developments in the history of psychology and the major contemporary approaches.
- Developmental Psychology
The key psychological changes and developments which occur from conception to adulthood.
- Physiological Psychology
Emphasises the correlation between brain neuroanatomy and neurophysiology and aspects of psychology and human behaviour.
- Social Psychology
The complex ways in which people interact with each other, and why they might behave in a particular way.
