About the Course
This programme is designed to provide a working knowledge of the Law. The course syllabus is based in Irish Law. This programme is for anyone who wishes to gain a full and comprehensive understanding of the Irish legal system. This programme is designed primarily for people who need a foundation in the core principles of Irish Law, with a view to pursuing a career in the legal field.
The course provides an introduction to the core aspects of Irish Law and the Irish legal system, as recognised by the legal profession. It is intended to provide an understanding of Constitutional Law principles, Contract, Tort, Criminal and Company Law issues and the law as it relates to property in Ireland.

Course Format
The Certificate is offered on a subject-by-subject basis. It is an intensive one- year course held over twenty-five weeks, two nights per week from September to May.

Award
The course is awarded by the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM). Examinations are held in June and December each year. 

Progression
Upon successful completion of the Certificate, students may progress to the Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Graduate Diploma/Associate Degree in Legal Studies.
