About the Course
The Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Psychology provides you with a comprehensive and professional insight into both criminal behavior and the criminal mind. The Forensics & Criminology course examines criminal behavior in depth examining the underlying causes in society, how events and experiences can shape the type of adults we later become and why some become criminals and others don’t.
Students will quickly learn the skills of criminal profiling, using numerous case studies from real life crimes and investigations. From vandalism, and ant-social behavior, through to the most serious of crimes such as murder and terrorism. The course will show how psychology can help us identify the offender. Areas covered include Crime Detection and investigation, forensic investigation techniques, criminal profiling and criminal psychology. It draws upon the disciplines of sociology, criminology, social work and the legal system.
Course Aims & Objectives
The Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Psychology aims to equip you with an understanding of contemporary theories of criminal behaviour. The criminal justice system is explored together with the skills to analyse individuals' offending behaviour. Planning treatment and supervision strategies for both victims and offenders is examined. Both theory and practice are set in the context of the legal and institutional systems through which offenders and victims are managed.
This programme provides a thorough grounding in psychology and offers modules relevant to a career in forensic and criminal psychology.

Cost & Duration
The Diploma in Forensic & Criminal Psychology is a 14 week evening course which is held one evening per week. The cost of the course is 1,350 which includes FETAC assessment fees.

Progression
Graduates of this programme go on to pursue a LLB Degree in Law or pursue FE-1 Solicitor Exams, a HR Management Advanced Diploma or Degree, a Higher Diploma qualification in a related area.
