Course Overview

The IBAT College Diploma in Desktop Publishing has been specifically designed to teach participants how to use all the main Desktop Publishing Applications. It is open to both new and existing professionals within the Desktop Publishing and Design industries. The course provides students with the skills and competencies required for effective work practices in this sector and will bring students up to industry level standards in the area of graphics and design. The course consists of four modules which covers four main application programs: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat. These are the industry standard programs used for Desktop Publishing.

What are my career prospects

The course also covers many important aspects of the DTP industry in general. There is a strong emphasis on the importance of a clear understanding of the print industry so that the learners not only know how to use the applications but also fully understand how to send the files to print. The course also examines the design, colour and layout of documents/images for print.

This course is focused on delivering a range of DTP skills to an audience of beginner to advanced DTP Designers. The target group are Designers and Publishers who have good computer skills and some knowledge of the print industry. The course is also open to those completely new to the industry, good computer skills are a prerequisite.

How long is the course?

This course is 14 weeks in duration and starts regularly in both our Swords and City Centre campuses. Please contact us for upcoming start dates.

What are the course fees?

The course fees are €1200.

Who accredits this course?

This course is certified by the Institute of Business and Technology and FETAC On successful completion of the programme you will receive a Diploma in Desk Top Publishing from the Institute of Business and Technology and you will also receive a FETAC Level 6 Component in Desk Top Publishing.

FETAC is the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland, the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) gives people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or training institutions, in the work place and in the community.

Learner protection for this programme is provided in accordance with section 43 of the Qualifications (Education and Training) Act 1999.
