Programme Overview
The web is now a vital area for all organisations. This course gives non technical people an opportunity to understand the possibilities of the internet and how it can work for any type of business. The course will allow you to create a website and web applications and to understand the latest trends in exciting areas like e-business, cloud computing, web2.0 and social media.
The course is very practical in nature and will allow you to apply web technologies to any organisation even if you do not come from a computing background. Computing and in particular web technologies is the key area of the economy that is predicted to grow strongly over the coming years. An understanding of and a qualification in web technologies is an important addition to your skill set and will enhance your employability. The Certificate will allow you to position yourself to access roles such as junior web developer, web master and content editor. It will also give you an advantage in any general business role where a good understanding of the internet is required.

Anyone from a non technical background who wishes to learn more about web technologies. Graduates from other disciplines.
Entry Requirements
Applicants holding a Bachelor (Honours) Degree (level 8) in any discipline will be considered for the programme. The college operates a Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) scheme meaning applicants who do not meet the normal academic requirements may be considered based on relevant work and other experience. This may be assessed using a portfolio of learning, demonstration of work produced and interview.
Award
The Certificate in Web Technologies is a minor award of the Higher Diploma in Science in Web Technologies awarded by HETAC at level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications. Students who successfully complete this programme may transfer to a major award at level 8 such as the Higher Diploma in Science in Web Technologies.
