Since it's launch in 2001, the Certificate in Project Management has given hundreds of project managers and project team members the core knowledge and skills required to deliver projects successfully. This programme covers best practice in project initiation, project planning and managing people in a project setting. Students will learn from experienced tutors, and from each other, how to manage their projects effectively and to meet the expectations of their stakeholders.

Audience

This programme will be particularly relevant for public servants who:

• Are new to project management
• Are members of project teams
• Wish to enhance their awareness and knowledge of project management
• Are interested in learning practical tools and techniques to help them manage projects more effectively

Delivery And Duration

The Certificate in Project Management is a distance learning programme that is supported by attendance at eight one day workshops over the duration of the programme.  Students will receive a learning pack comprising a specially developed distance learning text and recommended readings. Tutorials will take place in the IPA Training Centre, Dublin.  Classes typically run from 9:30 to 5:00 on tutorial dates.

Accreditation

The IPA is a recognised college of University College Dublin (UCD).  The Certificate in Project Management is awarded by UCD and is at Level 6 (Special Purpose Award) on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

Progression

Successful students can further their studies in Project Management with the Diploma in Project Management.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous throughout the programme and consists of four assignments (each consisting of two questions) and two written examinations.
