| Who should participate in this course? |
The module is designed to equip the learner with the skills and knowledge to care for children from 0-6 years either in the home or as part of as supervised team in a childcare setting. The module aims to promote good proactive, equality of opportunity and respect for diversity in lifestyles, religion and culture and the maintenance of a healthy, hygienic and safe environment for children.

| Entry Requirements |
- Learners must hold a nationally recognized First Aid certificate in order to complete this module successfully. A list of recognised courses can be obtained from the Health and Safety Authority.
- Leaving certificate or equivalent qualification OR relevant life/work experience
- Application form MUST be accompanied by a letter explaining:
- Why you wish to undertake this course module
- Your previous experience in childcare
- Where you intend to gain your work experience

| Work Experience |
A minumum of 25 hours during the module. These hours may be taken into account if the learner undertakes FETAC Level 5 Work experience module within a two-year period.
