Course Emphasis
The pedagogical approaches employed in IBAT College integrate a primarily communicative approach with elements of other approaches to take into account different learners’ needs, attitudes and objectives in learning English for business. The overall approach is learner-centred and aims to equip the student with all the tools essential to becoming an autonomous learner. The course places particular emphasis on business vocabulary building and emphasis on business terminology and phraseology. The course also emphasises the technical aspects and uses of business English. Course Overview
This certificate is delivered to non-native speakers of English to further their English Language Skills within a vocationally oriented context. It has a dual purpose in giving learners recognition of their language for work purposes and to prepare them for further academic studies. The course teaches Business English, which by nature will increase your competence and confidence when communicating in a corporate environment.
This course focuses on developing business English skills for use in a professional environment both inside and outside the organisation. The specific areas that are focused on are outlined below however, we encourage student feedback and can adjust the course content to include topics that they have a particular interest in or would like to focus on. Each element within the course will present a specific language set that will be used to extend and strengthen the learner’s vocabulary. Academic Progression
This course has been designed in consultation with HETAC, the Higher Education & Training Awards Council, to provide a pathway for students to further professional qualifications such as progression to Level 6 Higher Certificate in Business, or higher, or directly into employment. HETAC is the qualifications awarding body for third-level educational and training institutions outside the university sector in Ireland. Who accredits the course?
This certificate is dually accredited by FETAC, the Further Education & Training Awards Council, and includes a certificate from IBAT at the end of the course, and also a supplementary certificate if you successfully passes the exams.
