MovieExtras.ie was started in 2002 to provide a directory of movie Extras for Films, Shorts, TV, Adverts and other Media. The directory is designed to reduce the time and effort spent by people who want to be extras in getting cast.

Their business model is the same as that of any other directory. You, the Extra, pays a small fee to be included in the directory. The Production Companies can use the directory free of charge.

The production companies have been very impressed by the service. They are now used on almost every major production in Ireland!

Production companies search the directory using the Internet and cast their extras quickly and easily. They provide a friendly, easy to use website where the casting directors can select extras using the information you provide and the photographs posted. The casting directors can also check to see who is available using email.

MovieExtras.ie performs security checks on Casting Directors before authorising use of the directory.

MovieExtras.ie provides an introduction service between the Casting Director and the Extra. Their purpose is to ensure that the directory is accurate and useful, and that Directors are aware of it and know how to use it effectively. Once the director has selected the candidates, they enter into a contract directly with the candidate independent of MovieExtras.ie
