WHO WE ARE
Barnardos is a children’s charity that works with vulnerable children and their families in Ireland and campaigns for the rights of all children. Barnardos was established in Ireland in 1962.
Barnardos works with more than 11,300 children and families across Ireland each year. We provide 14 different types of services that respond to the individual needs of each child and family, and aim to provide practical and professional supports to bring hope into situations where hope is sometimes lost.
WHAT WE DO:
- CHANGE CHILDREN'S LIVES: We work with children and families in difficult situations to bring them hope.
- CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN: We campaign for child welfare and child protection and against child poverty.
- TRAINING & ADVICE: We provide expertise to people working with children.
Barnardos’ mission is to challenge and support families, communities, society and government to make Ireland the best place in the world to be a child, focusing specifically on children and young people whose well-being is under threat.
Barnardos’ vision is an Ireland where childhood is valued and all children and young people are cherished equally.
We employ qualified and skilled staff who work in very sensitive situations with children who have very complex needs to change their lives for the better. Our direct work with children and families is supported by professional expertise in the areas of finance and corporate governance, IT, HR, advocacy and fundraising. Everyone in Barnardos is 100% committed to doing their best for the children and families in our services.
